European Youth Empowerment festival - Rhodes 27th & 28th of June 2022
In Rhodes, Greece we hosted the 3rd festival with a first day based on debates and discussion and our 2nd day with a LARP (Live Action Role Play). We played the "Grand Master Challenge" when based on answering some questions reflecting moral values and good/bad choices based on life at Rhodes in 14th century we competed for the role of the Grand Master.
"Start your adventure by playing the Game as a simple Knight, meet your adversaries or your supporters, gain the title of the Grand Admiral, the Grand Chancellor or the Grand Hospitaller. Your ultimate goal is to be elected Grand Master in Rhodes. Leave your comfort zone, make your move and live this unforgettable experience together with your fellow knights in the Mediterranean, the key to three continents!"
Almost 40 international participants took part in the event representing Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Finland, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina with local participants from Rhodes Island.
The Festival took 2 days. The first day we played the Grand Master Challenge (a little bit different version of LARP) and competed over the title. This was based on the history of Rhodes, that has been built on moral values, good choices and cooperation of nations and cultures since 14th century (and before). We chose this place as an example for the future Europe how good cooperation and common values can make us strong and help us overcome many challenges.
The second day was dedicated to discussions about culture, cultural heritage and patriotism versus nationalism. each country had a presentation and we had some time to think about questions related to these topics. The discussion that started afterwards was very stimulating and made us all think about the main concepts.
