European Youth Empowerment festival - Kalajoki 18th & 19th of February
In Kalajoki we hosted the 2nd festival with a first day based on debates and discussion and our 2nd day with a LARP (Live Action Role Play) based on the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1950. In our LARP the 6 founding countries will send delegates to Kalajoki to discuss the future economical and political possibilities. The meeting took place in an old manor house, Havula.
40 international students and teachers will take part in the event representing Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina with local participants from Kalajoen Lukio.
The festival is divided into two days. On Tuesday the 18th, the Virta-Sali will host international and local participants from Kalajoen Lukios international studies course, who will debate and discuss the future of the European Union for young people. “Kaunas Technological University” will host a festival quiz and there will be an interactive debate and discussion held by “Artifactory Greece '' on the “Future for youth in Europe”. Former Rieska Leader board and Rieska leader youth board member Henna Liimatainen will give a talk on “Young people in regional decision making”.
The second day will be held in the Havula manor in Plassi where 40 international and local project participants will perform an International Live Action Role Play based on the founding of the European Coal and Steel Community ECSC in 1950.
The LARP will enact a secret meeting held by ambassadors of the 6 founding countries of the ECSC, with Havula and the participants, being transformed to provide the perfect secret location for such a dangerous meeting. But there will be opponents making their way to Havula who would like to see such a meeting fail, can their schemes succeed or will the meeting be a success and form the beginning of what we know as the European Union.
But to really experience what we acheived during the event then please watch the following video produced by Stuido Lionheart.
